Soddy-Daisy Arbor Day – March 4, 2023

Our first Arbor Day Celebration was held on March 5, 2022. Students from Ivy Academy and volunteers from the community planted 16 large trees at “Pine Tree Park” on Dayton Pike. Encouraged by this success, KSDB is planning a larger tree planting for 2023. With support from the City of Soddy-Daisy, donations to Keep Soddy-Daisy Beautiful, and a grant from the Tennessee Division of Forestry, we will be planting 35 large trees on the shoreline of Soddy Lake, across from the Ballfields Park.

Soddy-Daisy Arbor Day Schedule

  • Pre-Pre-Meeting (optional; some volunteers will be attending):
    • 8:00 AM: Breakfast at Soddy-Daisy Fire Station One, located at 10116 Card Road

All activities below occur along the shoreline of Soddy Lake, on Dayton Pike, across from
Soddy-Daisy’s North (Ball Fields) Park.

  • Pre-Meeting for Organizers:
    • 8:30 AM
      • Set up registration and refreshment areas (tent, tables, chairs)
      • Organize materials (post drivers, tree straps and stakes, etc.)
    • 9:15 AM
      • Refreshments available (coffee, water, donuts, etc.)
      • Photography and social media starts
      • Team leader meeting
  • Public Schedule:
    • 9:30 AM: Registration of volunteers
    • 9:45 AM: Everyone meets at the first tree to be planted
      • Opening remarks (speakers TBD)
      • Thank you to donors
      • TBD will describe trees to be planted and will lead a tree planting demonstration
      • Photos of first tree planting
      • Team leaders (7 TBD names) introduced
      • Volunteers assigned to teams (34 remaining trees); about 5 trees per team
  • 9:45 AM – 12:00 PM
    • Teams plant trees; take breaks as needed
    • Refreshments available continuously; lunch arrives late morning
  • Wrap Up at 12:00 PM
    • Closing remarks
    • Volunteer recognition and certificates
    • Press Conference
    • Visitors from community welcomed
    • Announcement of Tree Memorials
    • Group photo
